It is rumoured that the next generation touch-screen Sony Ericsson phone, the P5i, will be launched in one weeks time (November 15th 2007).
The phone which will match the iPhone’s touchscreen interface is seen as very important for Sony’s desire to compete at all levels of the mobile phone market from the student-styled walkman phones through to the professional Blackberry users.
With a 360Mhz processor, a 2.8″ VGA touchscreen, around 160Mb of ROM and 128Mb of RAM which is expandable through memory cards - the device is also widely tipped to include an internal GPS. Alongside this will be full Wi-Fi support, a stylish 5 Megapixel camera and the Symbian 9.3 operating system.
Not only that but it is expected to weigh in at just 125 grams.
The phone is expected to have a similar tilt widescreen function as the iPhone to enable quality video playback.
An announcement is being waited with baited breath over the next 7 days, but shipping is unlikely to happen until the 2nd quarter of 2008.
